Byng House // Cambridge, ON

Exemplifying the union between contemporary and traditional design.

Byng House exemplifies the union between contemporary and traditional design. With this project the intersection between the two becomes a space to celebrate this union.

The special moment in this design is the intersection between to architectural genres, defined by a glass courtyard – allowing a clear site line through the space and views out of each side.  The line of intersection is pinched, so that rainwater will flow down the line to small gardens on either side of the addition, emphasizing its harmony with the outside environment.
