Adaptive re-use, sustainability and creative work spaces

This renovation project transformed the original one storey 1950’s building into a modern engineering office space. By re-imagining space by volume rather than square footage, the fabrik team was able to work with existing height restrictions to add occupiable mezzanine and basement levels to the project. At the existing ground level, raised office flooring provides views to the exterior which were not possible before. This in turn allows for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to be installed and hidden away, while simultaneously donating extra ceiling height to the project’s new basement level. The main floor needed to feel open but create zones of private work and collaborative work.  The core space needed to have an identity; our team integrated biophilic design into the space to bring forth the environmental niche that is key to the services of this consultant agency.
