Adaptive re-use, sustainability, and creative workspaces.

This renovation transformed the original one-storey 1950’s building into a modern ngineering office. By re-imagining space by volume rather than square footage, the fabrik team was able navigate height restrictions and introduce new occupiable mezzanine and basement levels. The main floor needed to feel open while creating areas for private and collaborative work. Here, a newly raised office floor provides views to the exterior which were not possible before, in turn allowing for new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to be installed and hidden away underfoot. Simultaneously, extra ceiling height enables the new basement. To provide the core space a visual identity, our team leveraged biophilic design – in the form of a large, central green wall – to highlight the environmental focus that is key to the services of this consultant agency.
