Dietz House // Waterloo, ON
Expanding the living footprint by redefining the traditional character.
Dietz house blends the new with the old to add new life and refreshed identity to the traditional character of the existing 1950’s home. This project is about expanding the living footprint by redefining the traditional character of an existing home. A special reading room at the front of the house becomes a feature of the home that enhances user experience through the creation of new view corridors. The bold framed opening redefines the front façade as something new set within a background of the past. In addition, a courtyard at the core welcomes views and natural light into the heart of the home, the kitchen.
