In 2022 Fabrik was approached by an existing client to quote the design, documentation, and contract administration of the relocation of the Township of North Huron’s Council Chambers. The project brief was to renovate two existing classrooms in a former school into the new Council Chambers on a fixed budget and schedule to provide the Township with a purpose-built space with improved functionality and accessibility. Once awarded, Fabrik worked closely with the Township and contractor to value engineer a quality, contemporary design attainable for a small rural municipality.
In addition to creating a beautiful new space for council Fabrik identified the relocation as an opportunity to create a holistically accessible space with an improved AV system and barrier free access, to foster an equitable experience, democratic for all constituents. Following tender, Fabrik’s role as contract administrator contributed to the completion of the project on schedule and on budget by year end 2023.
